The Lion, the Witch and the Lube?!!?

Date two (yeah, I had a date with a real live man--cute and sweet) and after eating at the Thai Crack Palace (not its real name but should be), we went to see The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. He never read the book, so it was a treat to sit next to him and guage his reaction.

At a key point in the film, a character says, "We will go to Aslan". (Speaking of course of the very alpha male Christ-like hero of the film). My date turns to me and with a grin on his face asks, "Did they just say 'Ass Land?'"

Uh, no that's the cowboy movie. And no, we are not going there. Not yet.

The Thai Crack Palace? Ass land? Dang, and I thought my nights out were unusual!

W00t for dates with real live men. They are much more better at conversation than the 3 months dead ones...

:D...We went to see the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe last night as well. It was all very nostalgic.

Do you think you might be able to find ass-land in the back of your wardrobe then ;)

PS. Happy romancing

Hey...good luck on the dating thing! I'm glad for you. Maybe someday I'll get something happening for myself down here in Baltimore.

The Thai Crack? I assume you're not talking drugs. Gosh...I hope the scenery was...enjoyable...

Good luck with going to Brokeback Mountain. I won't be going myself. I hear it's a wonderful film, but still a tragedy at the end, and I am tired of gay romances that end tragically. I've read the short story it's based on (it's still online at the New Yorker), and it looks like an intense, honest and moving story. A good flick for straight couples to go see, and maybe gain an insight or two. But I don't want to watch gay romance tragedy anymore. I almost threw a chair at my TV while watching the end of "You I Love", when I thought it was going to end with the lovers being separated forever.

The Thai Crack Palace is called such by me and my friends in Hartford because their curry is so damn good it is as addictive as crack. One bite and you are hooked. The place is actually a pleasant spot, an old diner converted into a Thai/Lao den of culinary sins. Yum.

Bruce, yes, you articulate well my feelings about Brokeback Mountain. I don't want to hurt. This is a sad story about two men struggling to accept themselves in a society that doesn't provide a place for them and the many lives hurt as a result of that struggle.

I am not rushing out to my Mega-plex to see it. Give me a happy gay love story. Preferably one of my own!
